The owl

I was delivering asparagus to Mrs Curlew on behalf of Anthea, from the allotments when I spied a dead owl in the road.  Out of respect for the dead bird and because I did not want to run over it again I got out of the car and put it in a box, on the passenger seat and continued on my journey to Mrs Curlew.

Suddenly I became aware of a noise, the car did not make fluttering noises and then whoosh I had an owl on my shoulder!

I was scared, nervous and absolutely terrified  but needed to keep driving – I did not have time to wonder what Veronica would do ………..  In the meantime the owl was just starring at me!

I am frightened of budgies and this was an owl!

I eventually managed to slow down as I did not want to disturb my passenger; I quickly opened the door and he finally flew off but I am sure he winked at me.

Not driving in the countryside for a while.

A dead bird

I had an encounter with an owl today that was not dead – will tell you tomorrow.

Wine discussion

Veronica I need a meeting, where are you?

Plans

I have seen the plans for the rabbit extension complete with viewing area – I need to complain to the council.

Perhaps I should kidnap the rabbit!

Rabbits again

The man next door with the lilac rabbits wants to breed them and wants to extend his property for this reason.

Oh no ……………..

Stolen story

This story belongs to Clementine Hester whose mum Connie was giving instructions to a motorist.

Her advice was for the driver to follow the road to the bend and turn left at the bollocks!

No 22 bus

I forgot to tell you about the wedding dress.

I was travelling into the city one day last week when I spied a young lady wearing a wedding dress on the bus!  I wanted to ask her if she had run away or was she on her way to her wedding? …………… Ok she was wearing blue thick soled boots but it was definitely a wedding dress.

Was she a street actress, was she heartbroken or happy – I will never know; should have asked her!

Morning after

I was out with my school friends last night and I am tired this morning.

We talked of many things, sick clematises, train trips and we planned our Christmas dinner for September; we mentioned Veronica too.

Peggy May brought a supply of anti theft bells for our purses.

We were the last to leave the pub it was an interesting evening; will need to do it again next month without the bells.

I forgot Elvis

I took Elvis to the allotment and came home without him – Albert your lunch will be much later today!

Veronica is back

I wonder if I could sneak out whilst Albert is not looking?

Lunch with Albert

I had a voucher for lunch and decided to treat Albert – well I have been missing a lot lately; I rang the restaurant and booked for 1 p.m.

We arrived early and asked for our table.

Apparently I had booked and confirmed a table for lunch in a town which was about 70 miles away ……….

The only excuse I can offer is that the restaurant had the same name.

Staying at home for a few days until Albert has calmed down.

La' Breithe Shora Dhuit!

It is Veronica’s birthday today and I think the above says Happy Birthday in gaelic, if it doesn’t I am sorry friend.

May I say I hope you have the health of a salmon and  your glass is always full!

Money

I thought it wise not to mention Albert's wallet as he would have expected action on my behalf.

Allotment party

Today’s bad news is that I have white fly on my cabbages, easily remedied with organic washing up liquid.

However, we – Bert, Terry, Lupin, Dandelion and Sid to mention a few are pooling our vegetables and having a ‘stew do’ – unlike Albert I do not require money as I have wine supplies in my lady shed.

I shall be late home tonight Albert because I have so many white flies to deal with!

What a shame

Albert has gone out for the evening and forgotten his wallet – should I run down the street with his money or drive to his local watering hole?

I know I will go for a long bath and perhaps take a glass of wine with me; must remember to take the telephone off the hook ………

Mingling with Morris Dancers

We were in Hebdon Bridge for Violet Rose’s birthday and Mabel Elizabeth joined us; things were going well until I headed for the coffee shop.  I set off across the Square and did not notice the Morris people until I reached the other side and became aware that I could not pass the fence and was in fact in the middle of a boisterous dance.  I was not wearing a hat, nor indeed bells and flowers but I was in black with a flash of red and was stuck in the middle of the Morris Ring …………….

I have been invited to join the group but cannot afford the time to practise plus the travelling stretch; however if Veronica was to accompany me who knows?

Speaking of Veronica she said the wedding is lasting for days and that she will stop in Sligo.

An hour early for a red hairdo

I need to leave home quickly because Albert is making scones.  If his domestic skills continue to improve I will be able to leave for a couple of days/weeks and he can cook his own meals.

Away for the day tomorrow with friends (not Veronica she is in Sligo) Albert can have cheese scones for lunch?

Yoga torture

The yoga teacher must be having a bad day, she made us work hard and this is gentle exercise!

Beryl still has dirty feet.

Arrived

My friend Veronica is now in Ireland and is looking forward to Irish wine – is it different?  I am expecting a picture of her tipple via email.

I bought V a present for her birthday today (it is next week) but it is too big to take by bus; she will have to collect it.  I cannot tell you what it is – not yet anyway because she reads this.

She will like it …………….

Too normal

I bumped into a school friend today and she asked why I was looking normal; not settling for ordinary going crimson with red highlights on Friday!

Monday, 11 May 2015

All packed

Veronica is ready to go to Sligo with Emilio and I wanted to wish her well and wave her off on her travels; however she will not let me.

Looking forward to Irish stories when she returns – of course we have a date and venue!

Worried about Albert

We had an ice cream on our day out I ordered my rum and raisin and Albert asked for a bonfire ice cream; it clearly said banoffee flavour – does he need glasses?

We did not win

Albert and I went for a drive today and became involved in a cycle race, our top speed for half an hour was 8 mph; it was funny.  Yes it happened before ......

Begonias and new potatoes

I have flowers in my spuds – how have I managed that; need some help from Bert.

Thursday, 7 May 2015

A present

I bought Albert a fold up snow shovel today – of course it was cheap!

Tuesday, 5 May 2015

A bike journey

Albert has dusted off our bikes and parked them outside the front door – oh no!

Post

Elvis has mail from Basil, will read it to him later.

A big bun

I bought you a bun Albert; please get the tea ‘cos I am tired!

Raining

Veronica and I had planned to shop today but it is wet; we will have to stay indoors?  We know a friendly hostelry that provides newspapers and large wine glasses.

Setting off soon to choose a table near the window.

Bert, Elvis and onions

Bert from the allotment asked why I had planted so many onions – if Elvis could speak he would tell him.  Yes, Elvis is enjoying sitting or reclining on my onions again; if he is bored he digs them up.

That is the answer Bert.

A new bike

Veronica has a new bike, I never knew she had an old one; I do hope she is not intending to arrive at our rendezvous on two wheels.

Delighted to be back home seems I have so much purple sprouting broccoli I need to be out tomorrow giving it away and catching up with news.

Back before dark Albert.

Goodbye Plymouth

Home to good old Yorkshire tomorrow – I need a rest from Albert!

See you soon Veronica, I hope Elvis is well.
